A large Impressionist painting of a reclining woman wearing a blouse, skirt and a cape draped loosely on her shoulders. The face and upper torso are highlighted in color while the rest of the portrait is loosely sketched in black.
Mariette Lydis (1887–1970) was a self-taught Austrian-Argentinian painter. Lydis was best known for her book illustrations, paintings and for her lithographic depictions celebrating lesbian and bisexual relationships.
Art is in good vintage condition, some stains across the bottom edge of the canvas, near the matt.
The frame is in burnished gold with a linen matt, gold inner frame, non-glare glass.
