Herend Male Nude Wrestlers Porcelain Sculpture Olympic Art Deco Farkas 5788

A large vintage white porcelain sculpture of two nude male wrestlers masterfully depicts their powerful and muscular physiques. The men are in a waist lock rear bear wrestling move. The piece shows movement and is interesting to view from every angle. The sculpture was influenced by the 936 Berlin Olympics. The original sculpture was designed by artist Béla Pankotai Farkas (1885-1945) and commissioned and cast by Herend porcelain manufacturer. The artists' press mark is on the base. Herend is press marked and model number 5788 is inscribed underneath the base 

Size: 15.5 inches tall, base is 8 inches in diameter.
